![]() You're on the hook for up to the amount already authorized, and if you simply call a halt right now they can charge you up to that for work already performed and hand you a pile of old & new parts along with the car. i've got to wait until monday before the actual tech/mechanic is working again. I've attached a photo of the parts they said i need. so paying $2800 for some guy to tear it apart and maybe or maybe not fix it entirely/correctly seems kind of ridiculous. for something like $3200 (per ), i could have an entire brand new transmission with a 2 yr warranty. i'm strongly considering taking the car to a different dealer a bit further away as all my experiences with the local dealership have been negative thus far. and contrary to what the service manager originally told me, there was a part loose in the transmission that caused further damage to it as it continued to be driven.īasically, i'm wondering what my options are with warranty/lemon laws, etc. total bill: $2800, and that is minus the warrantied clutch/seals & related labor. ![]() ![]() i gave them the ok to order the necessary parts for $1100.įast forward to last friday (3/17), the service guy calls me back and throws on like 10 more things wrong with it. i drove around in sport mode, avoiding 5th gear, until they were able to schedule me for service.Īfter having the car for a few days (took it in monday 3/13), they told me it'd be $1100 or so, and that since they're covering the clutch and the labor it'd be saving me several hundred dollars. the service manager at the dealership dismissed that, saying it'd be fine. i asked if it was ok to drive in the interim as i feared doing more damage. I took it in a couple weeks ago and they scheduled an appointment about a week out. not that useful for diagnostic purposes, i realize, but that's all i've really got to go on. 2nd gear had what i'd describe as an 'electric car' motor sound. it also sounded like something was rattling around in the transmission when driving at low speeds, e.g. One night a couple weeks ago i heard what i thought was a motorcycle driving near my car, but it turned out that 5th gear was making a whirring noise. car was purchased 8/2011 and is therefore out of warranty except for the extension on the tcm software/clutch/deals. tcm software was updated under the extended warranty 12/2016. i've been pretty good about maintenance and haven't driven the car hard. clutch had the shudder issue and was replaced a couple years ago. What changes when towing? Where the weight goes on the suspension, angle of the pinion.I just hit 50k miles on my 2012 focus se 5-door sport. The vibration is stronger when towing, but not with more throttle, with noticeably less throttle it will shake. Transmission is rock solid at 203✯, even when towing in the foothills of the Smokies. applying even more power, the shake doesn't persist, still on and off, just stronger. First look comes off as a slipping transmission, but other things say no. Have you checked your transmission temps? I'm getting the same, short vibration, lasts about a second, then nothing for a second, then can come back again if I keep my foot in the throttle, then gone again. Your F150, the dealer will pull the cab off the chassis. Just getting the trans out and back in is a **** ton of labor. Both cases, TQ failed and took out the pump, no other damage. I can tell you it cost us $2500 to rebuild my wife's 2013 Escape the first time, $2800 the second time. I agree with TVSJR, take it to a performance shop that can beef it up for not much more than a standard rebuild. 100k miles is just getting started for most 6r and 10r 80's.
